What Does a WordPress Website Cost in India?

WordPress is open-source software. The quote pays for planning, design, content, development, configuration, testing, launch and support—not a licence to use WordPress itself.

Overbuilt projects start from ₹8,000; the accepted written scope determines the quote.

Quick answer

There is no reliable universal price for a WordPress website in India. Cost depends on the page and template inventory, design work, content responsibility, commerce or integrations, data migration, accessibility and performance work, testing, launch, training and support. Compare written deliverables and recurring third-party charges. WordPress core itself is free, open-source software.

The scope creates the cost

Page count alone does not describe the work.

Ask how many distinct templates are designed, which pages are populated, whether copy and images are supplied or created, what content is migrated and which forms or integrations are included. A five-page brochure site and a five-template catalogue with hundreds of entries are not comparable projects.

Separate setup from custom work

A quote should say whether it adapts a theme, builds reusable blocks or creates a custom theme.

Request the theme and plugin list, licence owner, editing method, browser/device test scope and performance approach. Avoid assuming that more plugins mean more value. Each dependency adds an update, security and compatibility responsibility.

List recurring costs before accepting

The build quote is not the complete operating cost.

Record the domain registrar, hosting plan and renewal basis, business email, paid themes or plugins, transactional email, backups, security services, payment-gateway charges and optional maintenance. Provider prices change, so verify them on the provider's current checkout and put renewal responsibility in writing.

Confirm access and handover

Low cost is expensive when the business cannot move or maintain the site.

State who controls the domain, hosting, WordPress administrator, source files, premium licences, analytics and Search Console. Ask what can be transferred, what remains under a provider account, which licence stops after handover and how a backup is restored.

Use one comparison sheet

Put every quote against the same requirements.

Compare deliverables, exclusions, assumptions, milestones, revision rules, recurring charges, warranty or defect window, maintenance response, ownership and exit process. A provider should explain an unknown rather than hiding it inside an unsupported package range.

What WordPress itself says

The software and the service around it are separate.

WordPress publishes its open-source licence. Hosting, design, development, commercial extensions and operating support are separate choices and charges.

Questions

WordPress cost questions

Is WordPress free?
WordPress core is free, open-source software. A working business site still needs hosting, implementation, content, testing and ongoing operation; some themes, plugins and services may charge separately.
Can you give one average Indian price?
Not responsibly without a scope. Averages mix template setup, custom design, ecommerce, content and application work. Compare the same deliverables instead.
What recurring costs should be listed?
Domain, hosting, email, paid extensions, external services, backups, payment processing and optional maintenance where applicable. Verify current provider rates and renewals.
What does Overbuilt charge?
Overbuilt projects start from ₹8,000. The pricing page explains the starting scopes; the final fixed quote follows a written requirement and exclusion list.
